EU-JAMRAI 2 Workshop on access to antibiotics and veterinary vaccines

From 7th to 9th of May 2025, experts from across Europe gathered in Copenhagen (Denmark) for a three-day workshop organised by Statens Serum Institut (SSI), and addressing one of the most critical issues in public health: ensuring access to antibiotics:

🔹 Day 1 focused on national experiences and regulatory pathways for accessing older antibiotics, along with a key session on harmonising packaging. Inspiring talks from Anna Mäkinen Salmi, Peter Zarb, and Laure Baduel set the stage for rich group discussions.

🔹 Day 2 included parallel sessions and site visits. Participants visited Xellia Pharmaceuticals and explored topics such as veterinary-focused strategies, joint procurement mechanisms, electronic product information (ePI) and tuberculosis medicines with contributions from DG HERA, Amgros I/S, María J Vilar (Agencia Española de Medicamentos y Productos Sanitarios), and Elizabeth Scarlan (European Medicines Agency).

🔹 Day 3 wrapped up with an in-depth look at the impact of pricing interventions on access, led by Lina Rosengren (Tandvårds- och läkemedelsförmånsverket, TLV), and a discussion of next steps for the Access area on EU-JAMRAI 2.
