What is this social media campaign about?
AMR Art & Memes is a digital campaign to raise awareness and share key messages on Antimicrobial Resistance through social media, based on famous art pictures and with a humorous tone.
There is proven evidence that complex scientific concepts can be attractively transmitted through artistic expression, focused on the global needs of citizens in a creative, stimulating, and effective way. In this campaign, the messages are based on the own codes of social media in the format of “memes”, following a humorous or ironic tone to engage with the audience.
Several studies also point out “memes” as an effective communication tool. They are prevalent on social media and can be used to communicate about health.
The content of the AMR Art & Memes campaign displays images of famous art paintings and a message pointing out different elements related to the challenge of reducing Antimicrobial Resistance. All the publications are complemented with a wider explanation and a reference to further information from a trustworthy source.
