Streghtening networks: AMR One Health policy group

Live policy group meeting and kick of Support Programme – AEMPS, Madrid, October 2025
This group brings together representatives from 30 countries (all EU Member States, plus Norway, Ukraine, and Iceland) who serve as Liaison Officers (LOs).
Each participating country has appointed at least one LO — and, in many cases, several, to represent different One Health sectors — directly and indirectly involved in developing and implementing their National Action Plan (NAP) AMR. Through their expertise, network and influence, these LOs play a key role in shaping national policies and fostering collaboration at the European level.
From phase 1: Needs assessment and policy prioritization
EU-JAMRAI 2 has collaborated with country representatives to identify two policy priorities they wish to focus on within the project. These priorities are linked to the development, update, and implementation of National Action Plans (NAPs) or strengthening the governance and policy dimensions of technical issues, and will be pursued through joint work with other countries and the exchange of good practices.
			To phase 2: Support Programme
The Support Programme (SP) was officially launched during the live kick-off meeting held in Madrid in October 2025. It focuses on enhancing policymaking knowledge, promoting knowledge exchange, and implementing targeted interventions based on the needs assessment and the selected policy priorities.
The SP supports countries in strengthening their AMR policy frameworks through a comprehensive set of activities. These include assessing and understanding national needs related to the development and implementation of National Action Plans (NAPs), enhancing knowledge and capacity building in AMR policymaking, and fostering expertise exchange and networking between countries facing similar challenges or possessing complementary expertise. The SP also provides tailored tools and advice, such as webinars, workshops, and technical support, while ensuring continuous progress tracking and impact assessment.
Altogether, these actions aim to facilitate peer learning, promote good practices, and strengthen the overall governance and sustainability of AMR policies across Europe.
