Workshop on the environmental approach of AMR: AMS, IPC, and Surveillance

The Workshop on the environmental approach to AMR — Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Surveillance (SVL) strategies was held in Madrid (Spain) during October 13-15, organised by the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS), the National Institute of Health and Medical Research of France (INSERM), and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment of Netherlands (RIVM).

The event gathered experts and professionals from different European countries to work together in the definition of a common approach for environmental AMR surveillance and shaping a pilot program.

The knowledge exchanges also led to identifying best practices to reduce AMR emissions into the environment and designing pilot trainings to strengthen capacity on the topic.
