The Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ), a member of EU-JAMRAI 2, organised a complete programme of activities to raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance during World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2024.
As part of the activities, it was held a theater play for children titled “How Ješko Beat the Common Cold” with students from Voltino Elementary School. Through an engaging performance, the goal was to raise awareness about the importance of the proper use of antibiotics to reduce antimicrobial resistance.
On Thursday, November 21, 2024, a symposium took place at Hotel Academia in Zagreb, to mark the European Antibiotic Awareness Day and the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week. The seminar was organised by HZJZ in collaboration with the Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia and the Dr. Fran Mihaljević Clinic for Infectious Diseases. The session brought together numerous experts and served as an opportunity to raise awareness of this critical public health challenge. At the symposium, eminent speakers informed attendees about the current situation regarding antimicrobial resistance in Croatia and introduced the activities of the EU JAMRAI-2 Project.
Furthermore, a lecture on antimicrobial resistance was held on the same day at the Voltino Library and was aimed at adults and the elderly. The lecture focused on raising awareness about the dangers associated with improper use and misuse of antibiotics.
