EU-JAMRAI 2 has contributed to empowering patients for effective advocacy on AMR by sharing its experience and actions in education and raising awareness in different webinars organised by EPF.
Laura Alonso and Ana Tamayo, as members of the Communication Team of EU-JAMRAI 2, have participated in the webinar series “Amplifying patient advocacy on AMR” organised by The AMR Narrative in partnership with the European Patients’ Forum. This initiative pursues to create an exchange space for diverse groups of patients, carers, survivors, and civil society organisations impacted by AMR who want to advance advocacy efforts.
The webinar How do we use our voices to reach a wider community for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)? was held on August 29. The event gathered an inspiring group of experts working in community development and advocacy for AMR, including Pernilla Rönnholm, who shared her lived experience as well as her charity Prematurföreningen Mirakel. The session was complemented by the perspectives of Andrea Caputo Svensson from ReAct – Action on Antibiotic Resistance, James Malar from Stop TB Partnership, and Danilo Lo-Fo-Wong from the World Health Organization.
Laura Alonso and Ana Tamayo shared their experience on the actions developed during EU-JAMRAI 1. The recording is available on “The AMR Narrative” YouTube channel:
On the other hand, Laura Alonso, as coordinator of the EU-JAMRAI 2 Communication Team, has also participated in the initiative “Skills Training for Young Patient Advocates” devoted to equipping young patients with the necessary knowledge to engage on the topic of AMR in a transparent and ethical manner.
This webinar took place on September 23, and Laura introduced the crucial role of patients in raising awareness of AMR, as well as some tips for effective communication.
Besides, she presented some of the tools and resources developed during the first edition of EU-JAMRAI, like the toolkit for awareness-raising and behaviour change communication on AMR, or the Micro-Combat app game. Laura Alonso also highlighted the plans intended by EU-JAMRAI 2, like a European-level study of the existing awareness raising key messages and materials on AMD, and another one to identify barriers and facilitators for implementing AMR awareness in schools.
