HZJZ holds an educational workshop on AMR for primary schools in Croatia

The Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) has organised the workshop “Bacteria and Antibiotics: How to tell the good bacteria from the bad bacteria, and why it’s important to preserve antibiotics”. This activity took place on the 27th of May, as part of Raising Awareness on AMR actions in the frame of EU-JAMRAI 2.

The Joint Action partners held an educational workshop for children from the Petrinja Elementary School. Petrinja is a small town hit by a devastating earthquake five years ago and that is still in the process of reconstruction. The goal was to raise awareness in such small and specific environments so that everyone would be involved and familiar with the challenge of reducing antimicrobial resistance.

The workshop began with a brief lecture on the importance of hygiene, a healthy lifestyle, antibiotics, and their responsible use. After the educational part, the children were given DIY sets with the AMR symbol and the picture book “How Max, the Dog, saved an antibiotic pill from Overuse”.

The goal of this initiative is to bring this workshop to other schools and organize an exhibition with the children’s works at the end of EU-JAMRAI 2, in order to showcase their creativity and the messages they have adopted.
