The joint actions EU-WISH and EU-JAMRAI 2 initiate mutual collaboration

On the 18th of february 2025, a meeting was held between leaders of the working groups and the coordinators of each project, to discuss shared objectives, synergies and practicalities. A good opportunity to learn from each other and work together.

EU-WISH is a Joint Action under the EU4Health programme, which supports the policy priority of strengthening the European Union’s capacity to prevent, prepare for and respond rapidly to serious cross-border health threats. The focus of EU-WISH is to support activities to strengthen and improve national capacities for wastewater public health surveillance by enhancing knowledge exchange and sharing best practices based on scientific evidence.

Surveillance (human health, animal health and environmental health) is also at the heart of EU-JAMRAI 2. It is therefore natural that the two joint actions EU-WISH and EU-JAMRAI 2 have recently begun to work closely together, since they share common goals in their work on AMR surveillance in wastewater.

Besides the first introduction, the session addressed future plans like joined target and objective discussions for wastewater surveillance, the synergies and use of each other outputs, an agreement for joint publications or the communication channels to share experiences and work together.

A first joint meeting together with Joint Research Center stakeholders on prioritisation of indicators for wastewater-based/environmental surveillance of AMR has been held on 18th of March, 2025.

The common work has only just begun and each joint action is confident that this collaboration will be fruitful in the near future.
