ENCAPSULATED CO-CREATION SESSION
‘Encapsulated’ will be a show that combines the performing arts and circus with public outreach to raise awareness of the challenge of antimicrobial resistance.
Help us decide which techniques, acts or circus skills might be useful for conveying key ideas and messages about antimicrobial resistance.

Match messages and figures
Figure 1: Bouncing juggling
A juggling act that explores rhythm, precision and space through the bouncing of balls on different surfaces.
Rather than confining himself to traditional juggling, the artist establishes a constant dialogue with the stage structure, using its planes, heights and elements as part of the performance itself.
The balls become visual percussion instruments: they fall, bounce, change direction and return to the artist’s hands, creating a dynamic and immersive composition.
A performance in which juggling becomes movement, music and architecture, blending seamlessly into the world of ENCΑPSULATED.
Figure 2: Ball juggling (“boleadoras”) and percussion
A visually and aurally powerful performance inspired by the Argentine malambo, a traditional form of folklore from the River Plate region.
The movement of the boleadoras blends with various percussion elements, creating a highly intense choreography in which the body, the rhythm and the objects evolve in unison.
The boleadoras, traditionally associated with indigenous cultures and later used by the gauchos of the South American Pampas, take on a new theatrical dimension here.
The result is a contemporary and energetic performance in which the sound of the percussion and the circular movement of the boleadoras create a powerful visual composition, bridging tradition and modernity.
Figure 3: Flamenco dance and percussion
Flamenco is incorporated into the world of ENCΑPSULATED from a contemporary perspective, combining dance, percussion and stage design.
The wooden structure ceases to be a mere element of the set design and becomes another instrument in its own right. The artist interacts with it, using different parts of its surface to generate sounds, accents and rhythms that engage in a dialogue with the flamenco movement.
The strength, character and expressiveness inherent to flamenco thus meet a contemporary staging, creating a piece in which the body and the structure seem to form a single instrument.
Figure 4: Cyr Wheel
The Cyr wheel brings a sense of fluidity, balance and continuous movement to the performance.
Inside a large metal hoop, the artist performs a choreographed routine in which the body and the wheel become a single entity. Spins, movements, balancing acts and changes of direction create a sense of constant motion.
In ENCΑPSULATED, the Cyr wheel interacts directly with the stage structure, exploring its spatial possibilities and creating visual compositions that go beyond traditional circus techniques.
A mesmerising and elegant act in which physical strength is transformed into a circular dance.
Figure 5: Tightrope
The tightrope introduces an essential element of balance, instability and tension.
Unlike a stable surface, the rope constantly responds to the body’s movement, forcing the performer to find a dynamic balance at every moment.
Walking, turning, dancing or performing different manoeuvres on a moving surface turns every gesture into a moment of anticipation.
This project seeks to explore precisely that sense of instability, using the tightrope as a metaphor for balance and transforming technical difficulty into a theatrical experience full of tension, beauty and emotion.
Figure 6: Pole
A highly physically demanding discipline that combines strength, acrobatics, verticality and physical expression.
The performer uses the vertical pole as an extension of their own body, performing climbs, spins, hangs and acrobatic moves at different heights.
The performance draws on techniques from contemporary pole dancing and traditional Chinese pole, but integrates them into ENCΑPSULATED’s unique artistic language.
The relationship between the body and the structure creates a powerful image of verticality, exploring concepts such as ascent, endurance, suspension and transformation.
Figure 7: Knives
A feat of daring and precision reinterpreted from a contemporary perspective.
Knife throwing is part of the tradition of circus and variety shows, historically associated with skill, concentration and a sense of danger.
In ENCΑPSULATED, however, the performance moves away from the conventional display of risk to focus specifically on emotion, tension and the creation of a stage image.
Each throw is integrated into precise choreography and a carefully constructed rhythm, where the audience feels the tension of the moment without the risk being the sole focus.
The discipline thus becomes a dramatic tool: silence, anticipation, precision and visual impact combine to create an experience charged with emotion.
