EU-JAMRAI 2: WP5 SUPPORT COURSE OUTLINE

This course is delivered in support of the objectives of EU-JAMRAI 2, and in particular Work Package 5, which aims to provide direct and substantial support to EU Member States and associated countries in the development, updating, and implementation of National Action Plans (NAPs) on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

This three-day in-person course is held in Berlin (Germany) and combines lectures with interactive discussions, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Questions and dialogue are encouraged throughout to foster engagement and shared insights.

Key Learning Objectives of the Course

Building on the five priority areas identified through EU-JAMRAI’s needs assessment, this course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools most relevant to advancing AMR policymaking. The focus on governance, surveillance, stewardship, sustainability, and training provides a strong foundation for linking evidence to action, addressing political and equity considerations, and embedding lessons into lasting institutional practice. These priorities shape the course’s key learning objectives:

  • Understand the Policymaking Process: Gain insight into effective One Health Governance processes, how they influence National Action Plan development and delivery, prioritization process, and AMR policies formulation and implementation.
  • Institutionalization of Evidence and Science Insights into Policymaking: Consider pathways and institutions to foster evidence informed decisions making.
  • Address Political, Ethical and Equity Dimensions: Explore the role of national and global political forces, equity, and ethics in shaping AMR policies.
  • Share Lessons Learned: Reflect on best practices and strategies to embed evidence-informed AMR policymaking into institutions and sustainably maintain evidence-informed policy response nationally
