While we have made considerable advances in health, there are a number of areas that seem to be at a stalemate despite ample evidence on how to move forward. Taclking AMR is one of these issues and it has been discussed today at the European Health Forum Gastein 2019 (EHFG 2019). EU-JAMRAI partner Germán Peñalva has taken part in a workshop about "Digital solutions & surveillance systems for patient safety".
Data collection on adverse events and surveillance are needed to foster patient safety & tackle 8.8 million cases of Health Care Associated Infections in the EU, along with the threat posed by AMR. Ten years after the adoption of the 2009 European Council recommendations on patient safety, this session has focused on the current situation of patient safety in Europe and how national and European policymakers can shape effective strategies to tackle the issue.
