Enhancing knowledge to move forward implementation: EU-JAMRAI 2 Policy Making Course in Berlin

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) affects us all. Yet many people are still unaware of the scale of its impact on lives, healthcare, animals and the environment. AMR is a major and growing challenge that crosses borders, making collaboration and knowledge exchange between countries essential.

Developing effective policy for such a complex issue is not straightforward. It requires balancing scientific evidence with political, social and economic realities. Strengthening the capacity of policymakers and experts to navigate these complexities is therefore key to advancing effective action on AMR.

That is why EU-JAMRAI 2 brought policymakers and experts to Berlin on March 10-12 for an AMR Policy Making Course, organised as part of the Support Programme of the Country Engagement work package and hosted by the Federal Ministry of Health.

Facilitated by the AMR Policy Accelerator of the Global Strategy Lab, the course brought together 48 experts from 24 countries to reflect on how to effectively design, update, and implement One Health National Action Plans in complex policy and political environments.
